Fire extinguished at Warren factory

Firefighters took about 45 minutes to extinguish the flames inside Warren Steel Holdings on Mahoning Avenue near the Route 82 bypass. Fire and heavy smoke filled three floors. The fire broke out on a conveyer belt around 3 am.

The company operates a 100 tonne electric arc furnace in its melt shop. Production ramped up in December for the 185 workers. There is no report on whether this morning’s fire would disrupt work.
