Credit Suisse touts ZincOx’s ‘swing potential’ in zinc market balance

Credit Suisse views ZincOx’s new electric arc furnace dust (EAFD) recycling plant in South Korea as a potential breakthrough technology for secondary zinc recycling, which could offset an anticipated medium-term concentrates deficit.

ZincOx shipped its first zinc concentrates from the plant to Korea Zinc in May and secured up to $120 million to finance a second plant at the same site at the beginning of July. Once the second plant is brought online at the end of next year, the company will have a nameplate capacity of about 90,000 tonnes of zinc in concentrate.
